Imagine not being able to talk or even smile because you were born with a cleft lip, or what it might feel like growing up with no friends and having to endure bullying because of a facial deformity. Imagine losing your sight to cataracts or never walking again if you broke your leg. This is the reality for billions of people worldwide who do not have access to safe surgical care.
At Operation Smile we dream of a world where no child suffers from lack of access to safe surgical care, but we need your help to make that dream a reality. We are asking passionate volunteers across the nation to join together and support UNTIL WE HEAL, a campaign to advocate for the billions of people worldwide who lack access to safe surgical care, like operations to fix cleft lip and cleft palate. We want you to join us, to raise your voice and to take the pledge to not stop until we heal every child.
The Ohio State University Operation Smile club held a Safe Surgery Summit to raise awareness and advocate for the global lack of access to safe surgery. Their event was covered by the local NBC news affiliate station WCMH-TV Columbus. Take a look at the clip below.
Two 8-year-old UNTIL WE HEAL supporters, Cody Smith and John Proctor, recently took to national television to spread the word. Their message was heard on nearly 40 Fox affiliate channels across the country. Operation Smile’s Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs, Ruben Ayala, also took part in the television appearance. Here’s one clip that aired on the Fox station in Greensboro, NC (WGHP)
